Pella Tulip Time Gospel Outreach 2022

Overview

As we seek to provide hands-on, practical training to Christians to share the message of the gospel with unbelievers, we seek to tell about God’s wonderful works. Our theme and goal is to “See what God has done!” (Psalm 66:5)  In Psalm 51 David confesses his sin and cries out, “I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.” (Psalm 51:13)

Come learn to share the gospel with others through this unique event. You will receive clear, practical teaching from our speakers, Dr. Robert Carter and Eddie Roman on evangelism and apologetics. We have several experienced team leaders and coaches to help you learn and grow as you apply your learning and tell of God’s work. This coincides with the annual Pella Tulip Time Festival celebrating the settlers Dutch heritage, the tulips , and the deep Christian history of the founders of Pella, IA. There is opportunity to engage in Christ-centered conversation with many as visitors as they come to enjoy the festival.

The event is free, but we suggest a donation of $25 per person, or $60 per family to help cover the cost of putting on this event. Simply Donate after registration or when you arrive.

Meals and parking are not provided, but you are encouraged to gather together with your team members to fellowship and share over a meal during the festival.

Please register for the times you are able and the sessions you wish to attend.

Schedule

May 5 - 7, 2022
Thursday
8:30 am Registration and Welcome
9:00 am See What God Has Done Jon Neifert
As we gather to share the gospel with others, we seek to glorify God through what He has done in our salvation and how He has worked in the history of the founders of Pella. Learn some of the history and how to use that to glorify God and share his message.
10:30 am Clarifying the Gospel Eddie Roman
The word, “gospel” is used in many ways by people of different faiths. Catholics and Mormons use the term on a regular basis, as does the music industry. Within the Christian church, the term can encompass many different things. So, what is the gospel? When it’s time for a Christian to share the gospel, what exactly should they share? Clarity on this issue is crucial for our evangelism encounters.
12:00 pm Practice, Lunch, and Evangelism Outreach Teams
Break into small teams, practice sharing the gospel through role play to prepare ourselves. Grab some lunch together and begin to distribute tracts, engage in conversation, and share the gospel message on the streets of Pella.
2:00 pm Parade Evangelism Outreach Teams
The time before the parade is a great time to distribute tracts. Many take and read the tracts while they are waiting for the parade to begin. The parade begins at 2:30.
7:00 pm Biblical Worldview As It Relates To Science Dr. Rob Carter
Today, bible-believers are a great minority among practicing scientists and are subject to much persecution. Yet, modern science was developed on principles directly derived from Christian theology. Despite that history, science today operates without even token admission of its roots. How does this affect current scientific practices? Can we trust the conclusions of all those men and women in white lab coats? Can science operate in a moral and ontological vacuum? We will examine three examples of how the turn from belief in God has affected modern thought: geomorphology (the shape of the earth’s surface), fossilization (the process of preserving the remains of living organisms), and genetics (specifically as it relates to the genetic history of mankind). In each of these subject areas, we will examine the evolutionary scenarios put forth to date and weight them against solid biblical exposition. In the end, we will see that the evolutionary conclusions for each of these subjects is derived more from starting assumptions than it is from reality. Science belongs under the umbrella of Christianity.
8:00 pm Parade Evangelism Outreach Teams
Go out in small groups to distribute tracts before the parade and engage in gospel conversation. Avoid distracting others from enjoying the parade. The parade begins at 8:30.
Friday
8:30 am Welcome
9:00 am What Darwin Didn’t Know Dr. Rob Carter
Dr. Carter shares historical insight into Darwin’s past and the ideas that helped formulate the most widely embraced theory in science. Do Darwin’s theories on origins still stand up in today’s scientific world? If he were alive today, what would he think of the currently accepted evidence for his theory? In light of modern science, would he dare to invent an evolutionary theory of origins if he were still around now? Come find out What Darwin Didn’t Know.
10:30 am Dealing with Fear Eddie Roman
Fear of man keeps many Christians from evangelizing. Some fear rejection and persecution while others are afraid of miscommunicating the gospel and not having all the answers. What does the bible say about fear? How can we get past our fears and step out in faith? This session will help you set your mind on Christ, the One who calmed the sea and calms our fears.

Saturday
8:30 am Welcome
9:00 am The Science of 'race' vs the Biblical View of Humanity Dr. Rob Carter
The subject of 'race' is a hot-button topic in the world today. The biblical answer is clear. The scientific answer is also clear. And they both say the same thing -- there is but one human race and humanity has not been on this planet for more than a few thousand years. Modern DNA analysis has destroyed 150 years of evolutionary, racist, and/or eugenic storytelling. In the end, this is a Gospel issue, as all people descend from Adam and are related to our "Kinsman Redeemer", Jesus Christ.
10:30 am Biological Robotics and the High-Tech Cell Dr. Rob Carter
The cell is chock full of mindboggling complexity. There are machines that do things no human-made machine is capable of. There are chemical reactions that happen in the blink of an eye that would take billions of years in a test tube. And the human genome is anything but simple. In fact, it is a super-complex computer operating system that far exceeds anything created by humans to date. New revelations about how it works have surprised us, and the complexity of the code is nothing short of astounding. The genome, perhaps more than anything else, defies naturalistic evolutionary theory. Evolution is not true; the Bible is!

Dr. Robert Carter 2022 Photo
Dr. Robert Carter (Creation Ministries International)

Dr Carter was converted to Christ at an early age, but did not know what to do with the theory of evolution. He always knew what he wanted to believe, but had no way to express what he was thinking and no evidence to support his views. In his freshman year of college, he was exposed to the information for creation for the first time and soon after adopted it as his modus operandi. He says he felt a tremendous joy when he realized his science and his religion were no longer at odds. This joy (and, he says, Creation magazine and the Journal of Creation) enabled him to get through the in-depth evolutionary training of his undergraduate and graduate programs with his faith intact.

He obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his PhD in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company.

Tony Ramsek 2021 Photo
Tony Ramsek (Answers in Genesis, What Does the Scripture Say)

Tony has worked for Answers in Genesis since 1999 and leads numerous gospel outreaches for the ministry. Through his personal evangelism ministry called What Does the Scripture Say Tony, his wife, and their six children, enjoy leading gospel outreaches at state and county fairs, parades, outdoor markets and other venues. His heart’s desire is to exalt Christ, equip the saints, and evangelize the lost.
